Ribbon Monogram T-Shirt

Long time, no posts... What can I say. Life is hectic :)

I just had to share my newest brainstorm!!! This weekend I was fixing a seam on a shirt for my neice when I remembered that I had gotten and extra shirt from Old Navy to have to make her a shirt with a cute little snowman on it. Seeing as the shirt was short sleeve and I had lost the desire to make a snowman out of fabric, I decided to make a shirt for her with ribbon. So this is what I came up with.

I love how it turned out!!!
(Please excuse the cruddy pics!)

It was super easy and a pretty fast project.

And of course... What kind of Aunt would I be if I didn't make a hairbow to match?!?!

The bottom ribbon is 1.5 inch ribbon from Hobby Lobby. The top ribbon is 1 inch ribbon from Walmart. I didn't take any pictures of the "process", but I think it is easy enough to just tell you :)

First, I just eyeballed how big I wanted to make the L in proportion to the shirt. Then I cut one long section of ribon for the long part of the L and one small section of ribbon for the short section of the L.

Then, I folded the ends over and using a straight stich, sewed them babies down. Complicated, I know. I am sure there is some big fancy term for that, but this girl doesn't know what it is.

I them did the same with the 1 inch ribbon, but I folded the ribbon over the ends of the larger bottom ribbon and again used a straight stitch to secure it. I did this to both the long and short pieces.

Next, I pinned the longer section of the ribbon on the shirt after I had placed it to suit me. (Believe me. That is a big task. I'm a little picky) I then pinned the shorter section in place after I slid the left side under the first section.

I stitched my L on with a zig sag stich to give it a little pizzazz. I stitched 3 rows of stitches down the long side and shorter side of my L. I think you can see what I mean by the pics.

And bam, you're done. Not bad at all. I think I am going to try a K next time. The hair bow was just sort of my own creation so I didn't follow a tutorial for that either.

I would love to know if you plan on trying this yourself! I LOVE comments :)

Happy Crafting!

P.S.   The shirt is laying on a quilt top I have just pieced! That is something I am supper excited about and I can't wait to share that with you next time!!!
